Rep. Idem Bags Iconic Legislator of the Year Award from Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja

The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Public Procurement, Rep. Unyime Idem, has bagged the "Iconic Legislator of the Year Award" by Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja.

The award was bestowed on him during the Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja Cultural Festival, 2024, which held, Saturday, at Akwa Ibom House, Central Business District, Abuja.

Rep. Idem, who was Special Guest of Honour at the event was represented by a staff of the National Assembly, Mr Iniembe Mson Moses, who received the award on his behalf.

Presenting the "Iconic Legislator of the Year Award" award to Idem, the President, Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja, Barr. Aniefiok Ibah, said the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal lawmaker was chosen based on his sterling performance since being elected into the National Assembly.

"This is the highest award given by the Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja, and you are the first person from Annang extraction to be honoured with the Iconic Legislator of the Year award.

"The choice of you is based on your sterling performance since your assumption of duty as federal lawmaker, and you've been representing Akwa Ibom interest in the National Assembly."

"You've delivered so much to the people of Akwa Ibom and we're so proud of you. You've facilitated the employment of many Akwa Ibom sons and daughters into the Federal Civil Service."

"We're particularly impressed with your training of Akwa Ibomites abroad and this ranks as the biggest reason why we're honouring you." Barr. Ibah noted.

Receiving the award, Rep. Unyime Idem, thanked Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja, for finding him worthy of the honour, saying the recognition will motivate him to do more for the people of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.

This award adds to the list of numerous awards bestowed on Rep. Idem following his sterling performance, as just last week, he was honoured as the best House of Representatives member on Empowerment and Constituency Development by Great Achievers Initiative for Youths and Community Development (GAIYD).
