"I don't do social media Candidates" Wike reveals why he did not support Obi

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has explained why he didn't support Peter Obi during the 2023 general elections. Wike described Obi as a "social media candidate" and stated that he didn't believe Obi had a realistic chance of winning the presidential contest.

Wike emphasized that as a politician, he focuses on analyzing candidates with the capacity to win, rather than those perceived to be popular online. He noted that winning elections in Nigeria involves more than just being qualified or popular on social media, citing various factors that come into play.

Wike also referenced the challenges faced during the 2023 elections, including the naira redesign policy and fuel scarcity, which created a turbulent environment. He commended President Bola Tinubu for navigating these difficulties and emerging victorious, attributing Tinubu's success to political experience and strategy [1].
